Upachaya Eco-Lodge and Wellness Resort hosted another successful one day Yogatan Yoga Festival this past Sunday, August 30. Mother Nature cooperated with us providing us slightly overcast skies which were perfect for those classes held on the dock. Other classes held in the Mangrove Center and the pool enjoyed the weather as well.
We had 5 instructors: Christine Etches, Michele Rauter, Rachel Darden, Erica Morgan and myself, Barbara Wastart teaching. The beauty of having a variety of instructors is that we cover a host of different styles of yoga, ranging from Bikram, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini, and more.
This festival we offered 8 classes to choose from ranging from beautiful vinyasa flow, to lectures on Back bends, to aqua yoga and more. Each student was able to participate in three sessions, plus the walking meditation and Tai Chi which started our day, and the guided planetary healing meditation which ended the day. Lunch was a healthy assortment of food items served as usual around the pool.
This is a wonderful event for anyone of any fitness level, whether you have never tried yoga before, or you are an advanced student. Each instructor carefully insures that modifications are provided for those with challenges, and that each student blossoms to their fullest potential.
